He practices in the operating room and in the cardiovascular surgical intensive care unit at Emory University Hospital, a regional referral center for mechanical circulatory support and extracorporeal life support. He is Treasurer of the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists, where he founded and chaired the Service Chiefs' Advisory Council and led the society's bylaws revision, and he is Assistant Editor for Critical Care at *Anesthesia & Analgesia* and an editorial board member of *Critical Care Medicine* and *Critical Care*. He is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine. He earned his MD at the University of Miami, completed anesthesiology residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, and completed fellowship training in critical care medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.
